PATRIOTIC COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
April 21,2010

A quorum being present, Chairperson Margaret Byrnes called the regular meeting of the Patriotic Commission to order at 7:20 p.m. in the Office of the Mayor in the Town Hall, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.


PRESENT:        Margaret Byrnes, Paul Barry, Patricia Begley, Richard Begley, Charles Clarke, Bernard Corona, Edward Dettore,  Vincent Parys, Susan Tukey.
ABSENT: Mike Brinius, Victoria Brinius, Linda Carrasquillo Melodie Wilson.      
EXCUSED:                
ALSO PRESENT:   Robin E. Parys, Clerk.

OPPORTUNITY FOR CITIZENS/RESIDENTS TO SPEAK:

None

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  

Commissioner Patricia Begley made the motion to accept the minutes of the March 17,2010 meeting.  Commissioner Vincent Parys 2nd.

MOTION:  Passed.

       
CORRESPONDENCE: None

BILLS: Motion made by Commissioner Pat Begley to pay the clerk. 2nd by Commissioner Susan Tukey.  
 
                        MOTION:  Passed.  

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Commission balance is $9,072.88


OLD BUSINESS:  Chairperson Margaret Byrnes has purchased and received the $100.00 U.S. Savings Bond for the final winner of the 2007 Flag Day Essay.  Motion made by Commissioner Charles Clarke to reimburse Chairperson Margaret Byrnes for the purchase.  2nd by Commissioner Vincent Parys.

                MOTION:  Passed.

2010 Memorial Day Parade will be dedicated to Al Doak and Arden Passaro.
Press releases for volunteers to help with the placement of the flags on May 22nd will be sent out to the media this week.
Memorandum to Town Officials, Department Heads, Legislators, Boards of Commissions to be sent this week.
General parade orders, marching orders, map will be mailed the week of April 26th.              
                        

NEW BUSINESS: 2010 Flag Day will be June 7th.  Letters of invitation will be mailed to the schools this week.

Miscellaneous: None.

Commissioner Vincent Parys made the motion to adjourn the meeting, Commissioner Richard  Begley 2nd.  
                                MOTION: Passed.
